City Center Investment Corp. is adding two eateries to downtown Allentown with Thursday’s announcement of a juice bar and gelato/crepe cafe joining the existing City Center Lehigh Valley businesses this summer.
Center Ice, a gelato and crepe café run by the Saylor family, which operates Allentown downtown’s ROAR Social House, will open in July at 722 Hamilton St., said Brett Kemmerer, City Center’s director of restaurant development.
The other business, Greenmouth Juice Bar and Café, has a location in Easton, and will open a second spot on the ArtsWalk at Four City Center in August.
“It brings a little something different to the downtown,” Kemmerer said, regarding Greenmouth Juice Bar.
“It’s organic, it’s locally based,” Kemmerer said. “I think what they offer is healthful food, they source from local purveyors. At a little bit of a lower price-point.”
Greenmouth Juice Bar and Café will serve organic, raw cold-pressed juices, superfood smoothies, hand-poured coffee and espresso, sandwiches, salads and vegan soups made from locally grown and fair-trade ingredients and be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Center Ice will be open for lunch, dinner and treats, offering ice cream, gelato and crepes in a renovated historic space on Hamilton Street across from the main entrance to PPL Center arena.
“The Saylors had been really happy with their experience downtown,” Kemmerer said. “We wanted to create a space for families to come.”
The Saylors’ new business will be in the former Nana’s Café & Grille next to Lehigh Carbon Community College on Hamilton Street, Kemmerer said.
