SOLD | 34.5 acres of land situated on Blakeslee Blvd.
Matt Macdonald of Markward Group represented both the seller, Oscar Beck and the buyer Lehigh Valley Health Network for the purchase of 34.5 acres of land on Blakeslee Blvd. in Mahoning Township, Lehighton, Carbon County. Lehigh Valley Health Network plans on building a hospital on the site to better serve the growing area.
In 2019 LHVN had announced its plans to build a hospital in Carbon County and has now broken ground on a new 100-thousand-square-foot hospital.
Matt Macdonald, Vice President of Markward Group, said “We represented the seller in the transaction and took time to present the property and its advantages for visibility and access to the health network.”
“The Lehighton market, and Blakeslee Blvd. in general, had been an area we focused on as a result of growth in that corridor. That area will continue to expand. There is very little inventory on Blakeslee Blvd.”
Lehighton is the peripheral beneficiary of the expanded growth in the Lehigh Valley. “It is becoming an extended bedroom community with less traffic and therefore, the need is there for additional healthcare and subsequent community support,” he said. “We were grateful to work on such a beneficial project which supports the community and its residents.”
Terry Purcell, President of Lehigh Valley Hospital−Carbon said “When we designed Lehigh Valley Hospital – Carbon we did it with the needs of the community in mind.”
In addition to the services LVHN already provides in Carbon County, this new facility will feature, 18 inpatient beds, around-the-clock care in the emergency department, 12-bay emergency department, 2 operating rooms, 2 procedure rooms, and 4 observation rooms with plans for future expansion. The hospital will also have a helipad to transfer critical patients as needed.
“Lehigh Valley Health Network is a great neighbor and wonderful asset to Mahoning Valley and its surrounding areas,” Macdonald said.
The grand opening of this world-class care hospital campus is scheduled for spring 2022.
